A man aged 50 is investigated for threatening and blackmailing two businessmen into repaying invented debts totaling 11 million lei and €350,000 to him, IPN reports

The Prosecutors’ Office for Organized Crime and Special Cases said that the organized criminal group involved in this case has been followed since 2020.

As a result of searches carried out at the suspect’s home, the police seized a pistol and a number of phone cards. The man used the seized gun registered in the name of his wife to blackmail the victims. At the request of prosecutors, he was remanded in custody.

An accomplice of the man is also in custody. This robbed Ukrainian citizens of US$500,000.
