Majority remains dissatisfied with Moldova’s economic situation, poll

More than a half (58%) of the respondents questioned by the Omnimas social-economic Barometer is dissatisfied with Moldova’s current economic situation, Info-Prim Neo reports. The percentage of the discontented respondents is practically the same as a year ago, but decreased by four percentage points compared to the previous Barometer conducted in October. At the same time, 10% said they were satisfied with the economic situation in Moldova (against 14% in November 2006 and 9% in October 2007). About one quarter of the respondents said they were contended with the living conditions (19% in November 2006 and 18% in October 2007). At the same time, 47% are displeased (their percentage decreased in the last two polls). 27% of the respondents think their personal economic situation is better than a year ago, while 37% say the opposite. The number of those who consider that their economic situation has improved increased from October 2007 (23%), but diminished from November 2006 (35%). The number of those who said their economic situation has worsened rose by 11 percentage points from November 2006, but decreased by two percentage points from October. The number of respondents who believe that things in Moldova go in the wrong direction continues to beat the number of those who said the direction is right – 55% to 31%. The poll was carried out between November 27 and December 4 on a sample of 1,083 persons, with a maximum sampling error of 3%. The social-politic Barometer Omnimas is conducted by IMAS-Inc Company.
