President Maia Sandu has won a new term in office, according to the preliminary results after totaling 97.7% of the minutes, IPN reports.
The 2,168 processed minutes, out of a total of 2,219, indicate an electoral score of 54.08% for Maia Sandu, while her opponent, the PSRM candidate Alexandr Stoianoglo, accumulated 45.92% of the ballot.
Voting continues abroad. The last polling stations in Canada will close at 07:00 a.m. Chisinau time.
The final results of the presidential election will be presented at a press briefing at 10:00 a.m.
