President Maia Sandu will donate €25,000 to a charity organization from Moldova. It is the amount that accompanies the Leipzig Robert Blum Prize for Democracy, with which she was honored in Leipzig, IPN reports.
The head of the President’s Office Adrian Balutel wrote on Telegram that the prize is offered, under the patronage of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, every two years to a notable person from the fields of culture, art, science, religion, politics and journalism. The award recognizes the efforts to strengthen democracy in Moldova under Maia Sandu’s leadership.
“You are a fighter for democracy, a passionate European and a courageous reformer,” said President Steinmeier.
Earlier, Maia Sandu donated the €30,000 prize that accompanied the Timişoara for European Values Award to the organization “My she-friend” whose mission is to increase the acceptance of disabilities through information, awareness and empowerment of parents of children with special needs.
