President Maia Sandu visited the Palanca joint border crossing point. “In these hard times, we showed to the whole world that we are a small country with a big heart,” the official said a result of the visit.

Maia Sandu expressed her gratitude to everyone for their devotion and solidary and approved of the way in which the Moldovan citizens mobilized before the drama of the Ukrainian citizens, IPN reports, quoting the presidential press service.

In the discussions with border police officers, employees of the Bureau for Migration and Asylum and volunteers who meet the refugees with tea and a warm meal, President Sandu thanked everyone for exemplary organization and for the effort made these weeks to help the people who flee from the war.

Maia Sandu wished courage to the Ukrainian citizens whom she met on the border and told them that the Republic of Moldova is ready to further offer them protection and safety.

At the Palanca hotspot center, the official discussed with a team of doctors from Ștefan Vodă and with employees of the Ministry of the Interior working at the center.

The Palanca hotspot center has capacity of over 300 persons.
