Maia Sandu: We must convince people that things can be changed

Maia Sandu, leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS), said things in Moldova can be yet changed and President Igor Dodon became a problem for the democratic opposition. The issue was developed in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.

Maia Sandu said that she and her party colleagues work now more in districts, where local party organizations are set up. “The people must have hope that things can be yet changed in this country. There is demand and should also be supply. We must prove that we are that supply that can bring about changes,” she stated.

Acceding to the PAS leader, the presidential elections showed that a critical mass of population formed in the Republic of Moldova. These people want the change and time has come to form the critical mass of the political class that can make this change by bringing professional, honest and upright politicians to power.

“We have a problem that may seem small, but this can really become a big problem. Igor Dodon does not fight Plahotniuc and his oligarchic system as he promised in the election campaign. He struggles with the Association Agreement. How can he fight a corrupt system if he forms part of this system?” stated Maia Sandu.

She also said she considers that Dodon’s visit to Brussels will be a failure. “Those from Brussels realize the game that Plahotniuc plays with Dodon. They know that Plahotniuc helped Dodon to win the presidential elections. It’s good to have good relations both with the West and the East, but making such statements as Dodon makes is a kind of irresponsibility,” noted the PAS leader.
