Former minister of education Maia Sandu, who initiated a new political movement, considers the early legislative elections are a lesser evil compared with the current government. She developed the issue in the talk show “In Depth” on PRO TV Chisinau channel, IPN reports.
“We are in the situation when we have to choose the lesser evil. There is a real evil, which is the government, and the possible evil, which resides in the results of the early elections. Surely we must assess the risks of early elections, but the potential evil is lesser than the real one,” explained Maia Sandu.
She noted she is ready to abandon her political project if the current government does reforms that will improve the situation in the country. “Let’s admit that the current government starts to promote reforms and do all the necessary things and in three years we will have an entirely different country. I can give up my political project if somebody comes to change the country, to transform society, to ensure democracy and the correct use of public money. But I don’t think that this will happen,” stated the ex-minister.
Maia Sandu said that she is for Moldova’s union with Romania. “I would vote for the union if a referendum on the issue was held. Why not to think about very practical things? We have a common mobile phone area and similar rail gauge,” she stated.
She also said that over 2,000 signatures in support of her political project have been collected so far and they spent slightly over 31,000 lei.
