“We learn because this is the only way we grow as upright human beings, aware of ourselves and of those around us, capable of facing challenges and making the world a better place”. This message was delivered by President Maia Sandu in the context of the start of the new school year, IPN reports.
“We value living in peace and good understanding, we learn to build, not to destroy, we learn to respect each other. Learning is boundless, and I urge you to never stop learning. A new year of learning as rich as possible!”, the head of state also said.
Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun also wished students to have a good time at school, to establish new friendships, and teachers to guide them on their journey into the world of knowledge. The official appreciated the efforts made by teachers so far and wished them to be respected and appreciated for the work done day by day.
“It is a noble activity, extremely important for our society. We rely a lot on a good cooperation between school and family because when all these elements come together, the educational process is a successful one,” he added.
Dan Perciun wished success to all those who are going to take the secondary school graduation exam or the baccalaureate exam. “Regardless of your academic results, know that you are winners. The most important thing is the learning process and the work you put in. This year you can fully realize yourselves as personalities,” said the minister.
The Ministry of Education issued earlier a circular by which the educational institutions, following the decision of the Teachers’ Council, were empowered to decide the time and date of the festivities dedicated to the beginning of the new school year.
Thus, one in ten schools in the Republic of Moldova started the new school year on Sunday, September 1. The other educational institutions hold their first lessons on Monday, September 2.
The first lesson of the 2024-2025 school year is entitled “Together for peace” and will be mandatory for all public or private educational institutions.
