The team of the former minister of education Maia Sandu managed to collect the signatures needed to register the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS). Maia Sandu made the announcement in the program “Fourth power” on N4 channel, IPN reports.
“A number of 4,000 signatures are needed to register a party with the Ministry of Justice. We collected over 6,000. We will not yet submit the registration application as the people continue to join our party. I think that by May, PAS will be a party with all the papers in order. We are now founding the local organizations,” stated Maia Sandu.
She also said that she hasn’t yet decided if she will apply for the post of PAS president. “This is not exclusively my project. We are a group that worked to create the party. A difference should be also made between party leader and party president. We want the PAS to be a party of a new model,” stated the ex-minister. In this connection, she said she does not know if former prosecutor of Chisinau municipality Ion Diacov would be accepted into the PAS. “There are reports that this is a controversial person, but it is the PAS ethics commission that will decide,” she added.
As to the presidential elections, Maia Sandu said the parties of the right should agree a common candidate. “There are many parties and if each of them fields their own candidate, the voters of the right will be divided and this will suit those from the government,” she explained.
