Maia Sandu to seek public apologies and 100,000 lei from Ion Chicu in court

Prime Minister Ion Chicu could be obliged by the court of law to pay 100,000 lei damages to the PAS leader Maia Sandu after he declared from the central rostrum of Parliament that Maia Sandu voted for the concession of the airport and rescheduled the debt of Avia Invest company when holding premiership, IPN reports.

Maia Sandu said that she sued Ion Chicu for slander. The former Prime Minister noted the current Premier campaigns against her and in favor of President Igor Dodon.

“I didn’t vote for the concession of the airport. There is also video evidence. I will go to court and will show him if he does not want to collect facts,” Maia Sandu stated in the talk show “Shadow Cabinet” on Jurnal TV channel.

As to the rescheduling of Avia Invest’s debt to the state, Maia Sandu said the document was prepared before she took up premiership. Later, the person who signed the document was penalized.

“The person whom they appointed in the Government of Filip in several days after I took up my duties signed a debt rescheduling document. According to the information I obtained from the Ministry of Finance, Ion Chicu himself contributed to this rescheduling document. They were preparing the rescheduling. I and my team have nothing to do with this rescheduling. This personage of the aviation authority signed the document. When we learned about this, we conducted an internal inquiry and the person was fired,” noted the politician.

Maia Sandu underlined that she will seek public apologies and 100,000 lei from Ion Chicu in court. She will donate the money to a family that needs it.
