To keep the fame of agrarian country that the Republic of Moldova achieved many years ago and to make this work for the country’s benefit, we must modernize the agricultural sector. “We should invest in technology so as to make agriculture more sustainable and resistant to climate change and should increase the processing capacity so as to satisfy farmers’ needs,” President Maia Sandu said in a congratulatory message on the occasion of the Agriculture and Processing Industry Worker’s Day, IPN reports.
According to the presidential press service, President Sandu noted that the process of modernizing agriculture will not be simple for the state and the farmers. “This is the only way to have an agricultural sector that meets the current quality standards, to export to large world markets so that agriculture is more profitable and ensures the welding of its employees. I’m convinced that we can cover this path together,” said the official.
She expressed her recognition to those who cultivate the land, saying the bread we have on the table today is the result of the effort and sacrifice made by the agricultural workers. People from many countries know and appreciate the taste of Moldovan apples and plums, the Moldovan walnuts are sold in the largest European stores, while the wines gain medals at the most important international competitions.
The Agriculture and Processing Industry Worker’s Day is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of November.
