President Maia Sandu assured the Moldovans from the Italian diaspora that she will continue to work for Moldova’s development. She called on them to vote in the upcoming elections so as to offer the chance of building a society in which all can work and live at home, IPN reports.
According to the presidential press service, in a meeting with members of the Moldovan community in Rome, President Sandu and those attending discussed the problems faced by the compatriots in Italy, such as the pension, social protection, recognition of Moldovan diplomas of study and the business support programs for those who return home.
She told them about the social security agreement signed recently in Rome and about the bill drafted together with her team, which envisions the exemption from paying taxes on personal belongings introduced into the country by Moldovans who decided to return home.
President Sandu said that Moldova has great people everywhere and she was glad to see optimistic persons who inquire about the situation in Moldova and who want thing at home to improve and are ready to invest in their native places and become involved in community development projects.
During June 18-20, Maia Sandu has been paying an official visit to Italy at the invitation of her Italian counterpart.
