The Central Election Commission registered Maia Sandu as a candidate for President of the Republic of Moldova on behalf of the Party of Action and Solidary, IPN reports.
CEC member Sergiu Gurduza said the over 22,000 signatures were gathered in 24 territorial-administrative units of the second level. More than 2,000 were declared invalid, but the number of valid signatures enables to register the candidate.
So far the CEC has registered six electoral competitors and is examining another two files. The deadline for submitting the documents and subscription lists required for registering candidates for President is October 1.
