Maia Sandu: PSRM-Shor majority decided to divide public funds between them at night

President-elect Maia Sandu said that after the legislative process was fully discredited by violating all the norms, the MPs of the PSRM-Shor majority decided to divide the public funds between them in the middle of the night. “What a shame! The biggest thieves manage the resources of the honest people,” Maia Sandu stated, referring to the sitting that involved the MPs of the Party of Socialists and of For Moldova Platform, which includes the MPs of the Shor Party, and that ended after 11pm, IPN reports.

Maia Sandu said that a group of thieves and profiteers divided the public finances, the money of the people who work and pay taxes, in Parliament late at night. The state budget law, which is the most important law of the state, was adopted in a hurry, by violating the norms, without taking into account the needs of the people and the county – support for the economy, the health system, the farmers affected by drought, the people who remained without revenues because of the crisis, the families with children. The law was adopted without real sources for financing the budget deficit. Instead, there were promoted the interests of thieves so as to enable them to steal further and to further apply the corruption schemes under the protection of the MPs of the PSRM and the Shor Party.

“We must remove these thieves from Parliament and have snap elections! Those who voted those laws are not statespersons. They are impostors. They adopt laws at midnight as they fear the people’s fury. They should be punished. No one will avoid punishment,” Maia Sandu posted on Facebook.

The draft state budget and budgetary-fiscal policy for 2021 were passed after being given a second reading, with 56 votes in favor, late in the evening of December 16. The state social insurance budget and the draft law on the mandatory health insurance funds were also given a second reading. The documents were put to the vote without being debated. The opposition MPs expressed their indignation at not being invited to the sitting that started after 10pm as the bills were to be discussed on December 17. The Socialist MPs argued they acted like this so as to avoid interminable discussions on important laws.
