Japan is a reliable partner of the Republic of Moldova. The potential of cooperation with this country can be fully realized by strengthening the dialogue between the two countries, President Maia Sandu stated in a meeting with the Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Moldova Yoshihiro Katayama, IPN reports.

According to the presidential press service, the interlocutors discussed the strengthening of the bilateral relations, including economic relations between Moldova and Japan, the rise in exports, the facilitation of Japanese investments in the Republic of Moldova and the mutual encouragement of tourism.

Maia Sandu thanked the ambassador for the development assistance offered to Moldova in time to support the European course and for the Japanese assistance in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic by donations for the Moldovan health system and by the significant contribution to the COVAX Facility.

In another development, President Sandu congratulated Japan on the excellent organization of the Tokyo Olympic Games despite the pandemic.
