Maia Sandu: One year ago I didn’t resort to nondemocratic methods for sake of victory

One year of the presidential elections that were won by Igor Dodon, his opponent Maia Sandu in a posting on Facebook wrote that the struggle a year ago was unfair, but she didn’t resort to nondemocratic instruments and methods for the sake of a victory. Maia Sandu said the party she heads, Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS), as then, continues to be sincere in its wish to change things in the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.

“Owing to the citizens, the PAS exists and continues its efforts to bring things in Moldova to normality, to restore common sense in the political class, despite the constant abuses on the part of the government and the nondemocratic attempts to stop the change. We have responsibility towards the people, not towards groups of interests and we will continue to promote the interests of the people,” wrote Maia Sandu.

The PAS leader noted that the trust put in her by the over 766,000 people on November 13, 2016 was for the dream of a prosperous Moldova. Almost 120,000 citizens abroad took part in elections after they mobilized and covered hundreds and thousands of kilometers as they still believe in the Republic of Moldova, in the chance to live better.

In the presidential runoff on November 13, 2016, Igor Dodon polled 52.11% of the vote, while Maia Sandu 47.89%.
