Maia Sandu: My goal is to ensure an average salary of 25,000 lei

Incumbent President Maia Sandu, who is running for a new term in office, supported by the Party of Action and Solidarity, said that one of her goals is to ensure that the average salary in the economy reaches 25,000 lei in 2030. In her opinion, this will motivate young people not to go abroad and they will be able to have a good life in Moldova, IPN reports.

Maia Sandu met with future engineers, specialists in information technologies and other professions that are essential for the development of the economy and infrastructure, who study at the Technical University of Moldova. The candidate underlined how important it is for the young people to remain in the country.

“One of the commitments in my Plan for Moldova is to offer a 3,000 lei raise per month, for one year, to each young man and woman who takes up their first job in particular strategic areas,” said Maia Sandu.

Among the achievements in education, the current President pointed out the investments of 500 million lei in universities and colleges, and of another 1.3 billion in the network of Model Schools throughout the country.

“We have started the university reform and are investing about 500 million lei in higher education institutions – the largest investment ever made in Moldovan universities and colleges. We stimulate the transfer of children to larger schools. Families that will enroll their child in a school other than those with fewer than 50 students will receive non-taxable allowances,” stated Maia Sandu.

The President of the Republic of Moldova does not have the power to increase salaries or offer pay raises, but can submit a legislative initiative to be put to the vote in Parliament, after this is approved by the Cabinet.
