Moldova’s President Maia Sandu discussed in Tokyo with the Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida, about the consequences of Russia’s war against Ukraine for the Republic of Moldova, including the energy crisis, among others. In this context, Maia Sandu said that Moldova is interested in developing joint initiatives to help accelerate energy security.
The officials talked about the good relations between Japan and the Republic of Moldova and how the existing cooperation can be expanded.

Also, she expressed her gratitude for the assistance that helps us to improve the quality of public services, including in health care, to increase the performance of the agricultural sector and to develop the economy.
“For example, this year we receive assistance to buy firefighting equipment - 19 special vehicles worth 12 million euros. Also, high-performance equipment will be purchased from Japan’s money, in the amount of about 8 million euros, which will reach five large hospitals in the country: the Institute of Emergency Medicine, the Timofei Moșneaga National Clinical Hospital, the Mother and Child Institute, the Oncological Institute and Holy Trinity Municipal Clinical Hospital. Recently, we received a batch of medical equipment, worth about 1.3 million euros, for the laboratories under the management of the National Public Health Agency”, Maia Sandu was quoted in a press release.
