The candidate for President of the center-right opposition Maia Sandu made a call to the people, urging them to keep the unity and force shown on November 13. She promises she will be near the people and calls on them to combine forces, not to lose hope, to better organize themselves and to give the country one more chance, IPN reports.
In her call, Maia Sandu says the popular élan aroused by the elections must be transformed into a force able to restore the freedom, democracy and welfare to the Republic of Moldova. “Dear people, the trust that you showed to me during these weeks of campaign and that culminated with a massive vote on last Sunday makes me more responsible and stronger. I will struggle to defend our fundamental right to decide the country’s future,” she said.
Maia Sandu also said that she does not challenge any freely expressed vote of the Moldovan citizens, but disputes the votes obtained by fraud and the irregularities committed by the authorities, which modified the election outcome. “Regretfully, the institutions of this captured state haven’t ensured appropriate conditions for free and correct elections,” stated the candidate.
