Maia Sandu launches petition to obtain invalidation of runoff

The leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) Maia Sandu called on the people to sign a petition whereby to demand that the November 13 presidential runoff elections should be declared null and void. She also called upon the Moldovans from the diaspora who didn’t manage to vote because the polls ran out of ballots and those who possess proofs of electoral irregularities to write to alegerifraudate2016@gmail.com, IPN reports.

“In these elections, you mobilized better than ever. Let’s defend our votes till the end. For the challenge to have an effect, all the proofs must be presented by 12 noon on November 16,” the PAS leader wrote on a social networking site.

According to Maia Sandu, the elections were rigged, while the campaign of her opponent was full of manipulation and misinformation and was illegally supported by the media and financed in a non-transparent way.

“The irregularities on the election day are yet the most serious ones. Tens of thousands of people from the diaspora, driven away from home by poverty and corruption, were unable to exercise the constitutional right to vote. On the other hand, we receive numerous messages from people about cases of multiple voting,” wrote Maia Sandu.

According to her, the mistakes made by the Central Election Commission by reversing the results are also serious. Such cases were identified at several polling places.
