Maia Sandu is most trusted politician in Moldova, poll

President Maia Sandu is the politician who enjoys the greatest trust among the population, shows the iData Barometer presented by the company Date Inteligente. According to the survey, Maia Sandu is trusted by 21.2% of the respondents. Ex-President Igor Dodon by 12.1% of those polled, while the leader of the Shor Part, MP Ilan Shor – by 7.2%.

“39.2% do not trust any politician, while 4.2% didn’t know how to answer this question. I would like to warn that this proportion of 40% affects the ratings of our politicians and these should wonder why 40% of the population does not trust anyone,” Date Inteligente vice president Veronica Ateș stated in a news conference hosted by IPN.

If parliamentary elections are held, 22.5% of those polled would vote for the Party of Action and Solidarity, 19.2% for the Bloc of Community and Socialists, while 13.4% for the Shor Party.

The poll shows the Shor Party is considered the most active opposition force by 35.9% of those surveyed, the Bloc of Community and Socialists – by 20.1%, while the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform – by 11.1%.

If presidential elections are held, Maia Sandu would be voted by 27% of the respondents, while Igor Dodon – by 20%. Maia Sandu’s supporters are from the districts of Ungheni, Nisporeni, Călărași, Strășeni, Soroca, Rezina, Anenii Noi, while Igor Dodon’s supporters are from Briceni, Edineț, Drochia, Râșcani, Bălți, and ATU Gagauzia.

Some 52.2% of those questioned consider the Republic of Moldova should follow the path of European integration, while 39.4% are against the accession to the EU. The people are not yet ready for an eventual union with Romania. 60.6% of the respondents would vote against the union with Romania, while 30.7% would vote in favor.

Also, 57.6% of those interviewed consider things in Moldova go wrong, while 31.8% believe the followed direction is correct.

As to the position of the National Movement for the People, which demands that the Government should fully pay citizens’ bills for the winter season, 27% of the respondents said this is a populist demand, 13.8% believe this is a legitimate demand, while 48.2% think the Government should increase the subsidies anyway.

As regards the Government’s decision not to index pensions this year according to the rate of inflation for 2022, 73.1% of those surveyed said this is a hard blow to the pensioners and only 12.6% said this is a justified measure.

The survey covered a sample of 1,040 people from 394 localities of Moldova.
