In the upcoming parliamentary elections, society will have to defend its vote, the leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) Maia Sandu stated in the program “Expertise hour” on Jurnal TV channel. According to him, the electoral process has been already rigged, including by preventing the opposition parties’ access to the national public media, IPN reports.

Maia Sandu said the interest in seeing what will happen at the approaching parliamentary elections will be much greater as until now only the opposition spoke about the existing suspicions, but now the whole society understood the risks. “We, in these very tough conditions, will have to make a double effort to achieve a bigger result. Yes, in the upcoming elections we will have to defend the result,” she stated.

The politician noted the elections are rigged also by not ensuring the opposition’s access to the mass media, especially the public TV channel Moldova 1. The electoral process will have to be monitored until the validation of elections. “It’s hard to imagine all the frauds planned by this government, but we should be ready to the biggest extent possible,” stated Maia Sandu.

The PAS leader noted the protests mounted in the recent past are a method of exerting pressure on the government. “Even if the government pretends to be disinterested, this does not mean that it is not bothered by the protests. If they hadn’t been bothered , the government wouldn’t have taken countermeasures. The instruments are different. In one case, Ilan Shor is used, while in another case all kinds of characters,” she noted.

According to Maia Sandu, the government does not want to discuss the recent illegalities against the people’s vote as dictatorship is being established and such additional topics as the latest protests are thus being raised. “We reiterate and want all the citizens to focus on the main messages. We have to defend democracy and only when we get rid of this regime, Ilan Shor and other thieves will pay for what they do,” stated the PAS leader.
