President Maia Sandu said that all those who will want to get a vaccine against COVID-19 during the next three months will be able to do it as the problem of lack of vaccines will no longer exist. During the next few days, the country will purchase a considerable quantity of AstaZeneca vaccine doses and she will request the Ministry of Heath to launch the third vaccination stage that covers the general population. The official said that to encourage the people, she will herself get an AstraZeneca vaccine, IPN reports.

Maia Sandu noted the problem of shortage of vaccines will be solved. The Republic of Moldova is able to purchase the necessary quantity of doses of AstraZeneca vaccine for immunizing all those who want to be vaccinated.

“The good news is that we will soon end the negotiations on the purchase of vaccine and, starting with May, we will receive larger quantities of vaccine so that all those who want to get vaccinated during the next three months will be able to do it. The doses of AstraZeneca are the largest quantity we can procure. We are also having discussions with another vaccine producer, but there is no final agreement yet,” Maia Sandu stated in the talk show “In Depth” on ProTV Chisinau channel.

She noted that even if she can be immunized now, she will wait for the third immunization stage and will get an AstraZeneca vaccine. She requested the Ministry of Health to launch the platform where the people can schedule an appointment for being immunized.

According to the portal www.vaccinare.gov.md, since the start of the national COVID-19 immunization campaign, almost 140,000 doses of vaccine have been administered, which is 3% of the population eligible to be vaccinated.
