Maia Sandu: I thank those who contributed to strengthening democracy in Moldova

President Maia Sandu thanked those who contributed to strengthening democracy in Moldova. According to her, the example of those who overcame all the obstacles in the country and abroad for casting their ballots is a reason for believing that a free country and a state that cares for its citizens can be built, IPN reports.

“In these elections, it was once again confirmed that some of the state institutions are far from meeting citizens’ expectations. Some of the institutions that dealt with the organization of elections can be influenced politically. They ignore the law and endanger the holding of free and fair elections. If we want to become a strong democracy, such things should no longer repeat. We need strong institutions that would respect and would ensure the free choice of the people. As the President, I promise that during the next four years, I will do my best for the people to be able to vote easier, without pressure and electoral corruption,” says President Sandu’s message posted on Facebook.

Maia Sandu voiced hope that today will be the end of a difficult period for Moldova and of the rule of the thieves in Moldova. She noted that after the votes are counted and the elections are validated, discussions on the constitutionals steps for forming the Government will be launched.
