President Maia Sandu got vaccinated against the novel coronavirus with an AstraZeneca dose on May 7. She called on the citizens to also get a vaccine so that the Republic of Moldova could overcome the health and economic crisis, IPN reports.
“I encourage all the citizens of the Republic of Moldova who haven’t been vaccinated yet to do it. This is very important. Many of us lost dear people during this pandemic. Even more lost revenues, salaries, jobs. A lot of people, probably the majority, suffer because of the fact that they cannot see the close ones and cannot meet the friends and reunite with the family. Vaccination is the only solution for bringing this scourge to an end and overcoming the pandemic,” stated Maia Sandu.
According to her, vaccines for all those who want to be immunized will be brought to the Republic of Moldova in the nearest future. A lot of 100,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses donated by Romania will be shipped to Chisinau today, May 7. More vaccines will be delivered the next weeks and months.
President Sandu said the people should realize how important vaccination is and should inform themselves from credible sources. “Vaccination is the only way for overcoming the health and economic crisis,” she stated, calling on the citizens to phone the family doctor and schedule an appointment for being immunized against COVID-19.
According to the Ministry of Health, 4% of Moldova’s pupation has been vaccinated against COVID-19 so far.
