The financing of political parties must be strictly regulated, while the state institutions must ensure all the players observe the legislation, the leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Maia Sandu wrote on her Facebook page, quoted by IPN.
The politician said the cap on financial resources that can be spent in election campaigns and for other political activities must be reduced drastically. State party funding should be provided on condition that the parties obey the law.
“The large amounts of money allow the criminal groups to create political parties, to manipulate, to intimidate and influence the behavior of voters, to come to power and promote their own interests,” said Maia Sand, noting that at the invitation of the NGOs European Endowment for Democracy and International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, together with Hanna Hopko of the Parliament of Ukraine, she spoke about the role of bandits in politics.
Maia Sandu stated that ‘clean’ politics is impossible with ‘dirty’ money. Sooner or later the debts will have to be paid, to the detriment of the people’s interests. The politician called on the people to support only the parties that are financed transparently and legally.
