Maia Sandu: Filat will not have a fair trial

The PDM does not really want the European integration and implementation of reforms. It only wants to take control of the state institutions, former reformist minister of education Maia Sandu said in the program “Fourth power” on N 4 channel, IPN reports.

“The PDM wanted to maintain the situation and didn’t make effort to do reforms. They do not need a good government that would implement reforms. A good government would pay attention to what they did for so many years to gain control of the state institutions. The statements about the European integration represent for the PDM a shield for distracting attention from the steps they take to bring the state institutions under control,” stated Maia Sandu.

The former minister considers that Vlad Filat will not have a fair trial. “Filat will be personally to blame for the fact that he will not have a fair trial. He and the party he managed took part in the creation of this system. If he hadn’t been blackmailable, he wouldn’t have reached this situation. I cannot say to what extent Filat is guilty, but the invoked sums that he would have asked as bribe seem fabulous to me. It’s abnormal for me for a person who stated that he gave €250 million bribe to remain on the outside,” she said.

Maia Sandu also considers that the PLDM needs a serious reform. “I think the PLDM does not need a new leader, but rather more people who would rebuild the party’s image and team. They must get rid of those who have a bad reputation. The party includes persons with integrity problems,” she stated.
