Maia Sandu: EP resolution contains many harsh messages addressed to Moldovan authorities

The resolution adopted by the European Parliament on November 14 is a comprehensive document that contains many harsh messages addressed to the Moldovan government, including the major concerns of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova and the European institutions, the president of the Party “Action and Solidarity” Maia Sandu was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Politics of Nataliei Morari” on TV8 channel.

“The main concern is related to the current government’s capacity and will to organize free and fair elections given that the Chisinau mayoral elections were annulled in summer and given the information received by Brussels about the situation of the opposition, activists, opponents of this government, state of the free press and harassment of civil society,” stated the politician.

According to her, such documents do not favor the Moldovan authorities as they are very critical.

The European Parliament on November 14 adopted a resolution on the implementation of the EU - Moldova Association Agreement  by 396 votes for, 76 votes against and 186 abstentions on November 14. The MEPs criticized Moldova for backsliding on democratic standards and rule of law.
