The German authorities are ready to identify a solution for simplifying the procedure for obtaining driver’s licenses, but not automatic recognition, President Maia Sandu announced on Facebook Live when answering questions of the Moldovan diaspora in Germany, IPN reports.
According to President Sandu, the subject concerning the recognition of licenses started to be discussed with the German authorities when she held the post of Premier. As long as the negotiations go on, she cannot announce the exact stage of discussions and the solution she hopes to achieve. They are discussing actively with the Embassy of Germany in Chisinau and are hopeful the agreement by which the obtaining of permits is simplified will be announced soon.
The recognition of diplomas of study is another problem for the Moldovan nationals living in Germany and in other countries. It is rather hard to obtain automatic recognition of diplomas as the education system in the Republic of Moldova is yet to be reformed and its credibility should be increased.
As to social security, Maia Sandu reminded that there is an agreement between Moldova and Germany that took effect in 2019. The Moldovans who live in Germany should go to the institution that calculates pensions in this country and obtain relevant information. The agreement enables to add together the contribution payment yeas in Moldova and in Germany.
President Sandu also reminded that work is done on an online consular services platform and voiced hope that this will become accessible in two-three months. Effort in this regard is to be made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. They are also discussing the electronic vote, but this issue is more difficult as the legal framework needs to be changed. “Regrettably, we do not have now 51 responsible MPs who would want to amend the law,” she stated.
