The congress to constitute the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) will be convened on May 15 and the documents for registering the party will be submitted to the Ministry of Justice the next day, the leader of the political project Maia Sandu stated in the program “In depth” on Pro TV Chisinau channel. According to her, about 7,000 people have so far joined the future party as members, IPN reports.
The ex-minister of education noted that not many of those who applied to be accepted as members were rejected. The applicants were assessed by an ethics and integrity commission that uses different mechanisms, including journalistic investigations, to establish who can and who cannot join the PAS.
According to Maia Sandu, local organizations of PAS have been created in 20 districts. In this connection, the leader of the political project noted that the procedures for registering a party are rather demanding and could be simpler.
The PAS leader considers the Ministry of Justice will more thoroughly analyze the documents for registering this project than in the case of other parties. “I think it will last. We do not expect that the Ministry of Justice will register our party during one day, especially because they have to read those over 7,000 documents that we will verify rigorously,” stated the former minister.
She noted that after the party is registered, a bank account will be opened to collect membership dues. The due will most probably be 200 lei per member a year.
