“A country can be built from foundations only when the people believe in it,” President Maia Sandu said on the occasion of two years in office since she was installed as President of the Republic of Moldova. She noted she wants everyone to believe that Moldova can succeed and it depends on everyone’s contribution, IPN reports.

President Sandu said things in the country are not as the citizens wanted as the state during a short period of time experienced a lot of crises – the COVID-19 pandemic, big rises in gas and electricity prices, a war in the neighborhood– but the projects nevertheless continued.

The official noted that during her tenure, the relations with the neighboring states and the development partners were restored and strengthened. The Republic of Moldova was firmly anchored in the path of European integration. On June 23, 2022, the country was granted the EU candidate status, which is a historic step.

“We managed to do this thanks to the people who fulfilled their duties wherever they were, because we are united and can bank on each other… I thank all our citizens who, during these two years, have lent a hand to make Moldova a better place. We will continue working so as to have a free and flourishing state. We will manage to do this together, united and solidary,” said the official.
