Prime Minister Maia Sandu calls upon the people to denounce crimes committed by the Plahotniuc regime. In a news conference on June 17, she said the regime committed a lot of abuses and many of these are known, but even more remain unknown and the new government is determined to investigate them.

“We are determined to investigate and to seek the deserved punishment from independent judges. For the purpose, we need evidence. We know that many of you have such evidence, but you reasonably don’t trust prosecutors. I also do not trust the prosecutor’s office now as this is still controlled by Plahotniuc,” Maia Sandu was quoted by IPN as saying.

According to the Premier, the ensuring of prosecutors’ independence is a priority for the current Government. “Until we ensure the independence of prosecutors, I urge you to have confidence in us. We will soon announce the numbler of a helpline for all the persons who have proofs about the crimes committed by Plahotniuc and persons close to him, about the influence exerted by these, about dismissals for the simple reason that the people didn’t want to go to an event organized by the PDM or took part in a protest against the Plahotniuc regime to furnish these to us,” stated Maia Sandu. According to her, the received information will be verified by persons from her team.

An anticorruption policies and justice sector reform bureau will be created under the Premier’s Cabinet and this will consist of national and foreign experts.

Maia Sandu added that as the Prime Minister she this week will send a letter to the Kroll Company by which she will request a copy of the second report on the investigation into the bank fraud.

In another development, the Premier said actions will be taken to restore foreign financing, first of all from the EU. The authorities already made an approach concerning a new assessment mission of the International Monetary Fund and an answer is expected to be provided the next few days.
