The electoral bloc ACUM has technical solutions for having the proposed de-oligarchization initiatives adopted even in the absence of a Government. These solutions will be discussed in the plenary sessions of Parliament, the bloc’s co-president Maia Sandu, the leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS), was quoted by IPN as saying in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel.
Maia Sandu said that when validating the election results, the Constitutional Court showed once again that it is not an independent institution that would obey the law. She referred to the bloc’s application not to recognize the elections in several constituencies, including in those where Transnistrian electors obviously voted for money. “We saw the Court’s reaction and I cannot say we were surprised. It is an additional proof of the fact that this state was captured. We have enough evidence and presented it in a detailed report showing the elections were rigged and, in this connection, it is evident that we are sure the score of the bloc ACUM is much higher than the officially recognized one,” stated the politician.
According to her, the party aims to build a state with the rule of law and to free the state institutions from captivity and to then invest in them and make sure that these work in the interests of the citizens. In this regard, the bloc proposed a package of bills addressed to the other elected MPs and they will see how many of these really want to represent the people’s interests. This package envisions the creation of three commissions of inquiry, one of which would investigate the banking fraud, and a number of dismissals, including of the prosecutor general.
The PAS leader noted the bloc ACUM has 26 seats of MP and they make an offer to other MPs who, in the election campaign, said they want to enter Parliament to defend the people’s interests. “A government similar to the previous one or a government formalized with the Socialists will further isolate the state at foreign level, will strip it of financial resources that can come from outside, will have dramatic effects on the investment climate and, respectively, on the economy. The Democratic Party and the Party of Socialists could form an alliance openly, but could also form a more veiled coalition, with “borrowed” MPs, so as to keep the appearances for voters and the foreign partners,” she stated.
Maia Sandu said snap elections are also possible if the Democratic Party will consider it should not formalize its “marriage” with the Party of Socialists before the local elections. The bloc ACUM will not form an alliance with the PDM, the PSRM or the Shor Party.
The politician said she will make a visit to Brussels on March 20-22 to discuss the conduct of elections in the context of the financing that Moldova was to obtain with foreign partners, decision makers of the EU. “We will insist on the fact that the European Union should use all the available instruments to help free the state from captivity,” she stated.
In a press briefing on March 11, the Party of Socialists’ secretary for ideology Ion Ceban invited the leaders of the electoral bloc ACUM DA PAS to discussions on the establishment of political parliamentary cooperation relations. The next day, the bloc’s leaders rejected the invitation, arguing all the ACUM candidates for MP before the elections signed a public commitment, promising not to form alliances with oligarchic and anti-European parties. Earlier, the bloc ACUM declared it will also not have discussions with another parliamentary party – the Democratic Party of Moldova.
