Prime Minister Maia Sandu said the decision to move to the opposition taken by the Democratic Party on June 14 is natural, but late. In a press beefing, Maia Sandu said a Government that does not exist cannot resign, while the Filip Government stopped existing on June 8, 2019, IPN reports.
According to Maia Sandu, the abusive actions dictated by the leader of the PDM Vlad Plahotniuc, including those to block the state institutions, to blackmail and threaten the people, not to recognize the invested Government and to adopt illegal decisions, are actions that will not remain unpunished.
The politician noted that Vlad Plahotniuc wanted to destroy any trace of democracy by keeping the whole country hostage during seven days, including the own party members, for the safety of one person. ”In the nearest future, the independent judiciary will impose the corresponding penalties according to the letter of the law for citizen Plahotniuc and those who violated the legal provisions, obeying him directly,” stated the Premier.
Maia Sandu voiced hope the PDM’s decision is an assumed and sincere one and does not represent a trap by which this party reserves time for preparing for subversive actions. To demonstrate its role of opposition party, without blockages and actions that would endanger the functioning of the central public administration, the PDM should withdraw all the paramilitary forces and persons from around the public institutions and should stop terrorizing the public functionaries. The judges of the Constitutional Court are requested to review their decisions of June 7-9 and to later resign all together. The prosecutor general is also asked to resign.
Maia Sandu thanked the people for remaining clam and for encouraging the new administration to go on. “We ultimately won against evil!” stated the Premier, adding the Cabinet will have an urgent meeting tomorrow, June 15.
