“A President can consolidate the state institutions. Imagine how our justice and other state institutions whose role is to bring things in order can look like. Imagine that the people from these institutions enjoy the support of the President and not for a month, but during four years. When the President supports a particular reform that starts from inside, these people will have more courage and confidence to go on,” PAS leader Maia Sandu said when she was asked what Moldova’s President who has little powers in a parliamentary republic can do, IPN reports.
According to Maia Sandu, the President of the Republic of Moldova could play an important role in the situation in which the country is now. “We should bring things in Moldovan politics in order as we have a Parliament adrift that is formed of all kinds of turncoats and MPs who changed parties for many times during the last few years,” the politician stated in the talk show “Black Box” on TV8 channel.
Asked if she would like to return to premiership, the PAS leader said there are more citizens in Moldova who can hold this post.
“The post of Prime Minister is important, interesting, honorable, but I will not give you an answer here as there will be speculations as to whether I’m interested in it or not. It is important that this post be held by a person who can build a team and can manage the country and the team in this rather difficult period. There are more candidates in Moldova. I’m not the only one,” stated Maia Sandu.
