“The Party Action and Solidarity in the future will better choose the party members who will work more for the benefit of the party,” the party’s president Maia Sandu stated, referring to independent candidate Grigore Cobzac’s decision to run for MP in the elections in Hâncești after declaring that he will not run when he was still a member of the party.
“We made effort to support Olesea Stamate as a candidate, while Mister Cobzac, whom we supported in the previous elections, chose to lie. Before Olesea Stamate gave her consent to run on behalf of the PAS, Mister Cobzac assured us that he will not run,” Maia Sandu stated in the talk show “Black Box” on TV8 channel.
Moreover, the politician noted that as a result of discussions held with Grigore Cobzac the last few weeks, she deduced that this plays the game of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova.
The PAS president said the political right didn’t field a common candidate because both the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” and Grigore Cobzac didn’t support the proposal to carry out a survey to see who the candidate with the biggest chances of winning was.
As to the presidential elections, Maia Sandu said the PAS, PPPDA, PLDM and the Union Platform considered providing a common, apolitical candidate, but shortly after these discussions the PPPDA put forward its own, political candidate.
The politician noted the people should not get into a panic if a consensus about a common candidate of the right for the presidential elections of this autumn is not reached. She urged the political class to conduct a civilized election campaign.
