As many as 132,000 doses of vaccine have crossed the Prut and will soon reach Chisinau. We thank Romania for the generous donation that will enable us to extend the categories of vaccinated persons, President Maia Sandu posted on Facebook, being quoted by IPN.
“Romania donated vaccines from its own supplies and such generosity cements the solid friendship between the Republic of Moldova and Romania. We are grateful to Mister President Klaus Iohannis, Mister Prime Minister Florin Cîțu, the Romanian people for the solidarity and immense efforts thanks to which these donations became possible. We will continue to build bridges between our citizens, the vaccine bridge being now the most valuable one,” said Maia Sandu.
“The important donations made now make me optimistic. We are going together towards better times when we will embrace the dear ones and will enjoy each other’s company. To get there, we should continue wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and getting vaccinated. This will be possible soon for more citizens!” said President Sandu.
The donation forms part of the package of support for Moldova that was announced by the President of Romania Klaus Johannis during his official visit to Chisinau on December 29, 2020. Moldova will receive about 200,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines in total in humanitarian aid.
