MAI calls entrepreneurs for discussions

The Ministry of the Interior calls the business community to participate in discussions in order to remove the obstacles that hinder entrepreneurial activities and thus create premises for the corruption of MoI officers, Info-Prim Neo reports. Minister of the Interior Dorin Recean told the press on Monday, November 12, that after the closing of the Center for Fighting Economic Crimes and Corruption, the Ministry took over the competence to fight economic crimes. “We know this is a huge responsibility. Our approaches to fighting this king of crimes won’t be to constraint the entrepreneurs, but to create an environment in which it will be more advantageous to run a business legally”. Dorin Recean said that the Ministry plans to remove, step by step, the situations in which business people choose to violate the law because it is too expensive of even impossible to obey it. “It’s one thing to talk about well-meaning entrepreneurs, who create new jobs and have been working for years in Moldova, who invest and pay taxes, and we must help them. It’s a wholly different matter when we speak about crime groups. Towards them, we’ll only have zero tolerance”. The Center for Fighting Economic Crimes and Corruption became on October 1 the National Anticorruption Center and will focus exclusively on preventing and fighting corruption. The competences of investigating and preventing economic crimes were taken over by the Ministry of the Interior and by the Customs Service.
