Regaining the confidence of the country's development partners and restoring EU budgetary and macro-financial assistance, provided in support of the reforms launched by the Sandu government, is the key element of the activity report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration for the June 8 - November 8, 2019 period. The report is presented in the context of the motion of censure, which was submitted by the PSRM.
The MAEIE report said that the European Union provided 54 million euros as budget support and about 30 million euros as the first installment of macro-financial assistance. Additionally, the political dialogue with the international and European institutions was resumed at the highest level.
Among other achievements, the report mentioned the strengthening of the political dialogue on the eastern dimension, in particular with Ukraine and the Russian Federation, the strategic partnership between the Republic of Moldova and Romania and the development of the common infrastructure which aims to ensure the diversification of energy sources.
"After several years, the Moldovan-Russian dialogue was reestablished and normalized. The aim of our efforts is to promote exports and to solve the problems that have been accumulated between the two sides, especially the cancellation of the trade restrictions for the Moldovan goods, which are currently applied by the Russian side" the report reads. Also, MAEIE said that it has accelerated the Iași-Chișinău gas pipeline project.
In order to support Moldovan citizens from the diaspora, the consular network was expanded and a mechanism for document home delivery was implemented. The MAEIE report said that it was decided to open a Moldovan consulate in Barcelona and to hire more staff for the Frankfurt and Padua consulates. "This will allow Moldovans from abroad to save time and money, without having to travel long distances to solve their problems related to document processing".
MPs will convene in a plenary session on Tuesday in order to examine the motion of censure. The meeting will be held at 10:00.
