MAE wants to join with PL in order to obtain important positions in state, Victor Osipov

“The European Action Movement will receive an important post in the state, even in the administration of an institution dealing with national security, if it merges with the Liberal Party,” former Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Victor Osipov, first deputy head of the Moldova Noastra Alliance, said in a program on Radio Moldova on February 21. The leader of the European Action Movement (MAE) Veaceslav Untila denied the assertion, Info-Prim Neo reports. Victor Osipov said the people must be very vigilant if this information obtained from private sources is confirmed because this political phenomenon is a kind of political corruption and involves important state institutions. In the same program, the MAE leader Veaceslav Untila made a reply on the phone, saying the information is not correct as he did not discuss the distribution of posts with the Liberal leader Mihai Ghimpu. “We did not raise the issue of posts. This topic does not interest us at the moment. We want to inform the voters that there are parties that put the national interests above the personal interests,” Veaceslav Untila said. He reiterated that the political movement he heads is holding talks with the Liberal Party as they want to unite their forces. “If we join forces, we can obtain good results in the local elections. However, a final decision on the merger will be taken in the party’s Congress. We accept the Liberal doctrine and the name of the Liberal Party,” Veaceslav Untila said. He also said that in the future local elections, the MAE will go together with the PL and will support Dorin Chirtoaca for the post of Mayor of Chisinau. Contacted later by Info-Prim Neo, Veaceslav Untila confirmed the information about the possible merger between the MAE and the PL. He said the talks on the union with the PL started several weeks ago, while the merger agreement is to be signed in the near future. The European Action Movement ran in the early legislative elections of November 28, 2010 independently, polling less than 2% of the vote.
