The Social-Political Movement “Actiunea Europeana” (MAE) set up a human chain around the Parliament’s building on March 19. Representatives of the MAE held hands and chanted: “Moldova without Corruption” and “Corruption Go out of Parliament”, Info-Prim Neo reports. The party’s president Anatol Petrencu said that the event was held with the aim of sensitizing the people so that they vote a Parliament composed of clean and honest MPs that love the Moldovan people on April 5. “We try to say that only honest and non-discredited persons can formulate policies that will promote the interests of the people, not of the mafiotic clans,” said Vitalia Pavlienco, who is the second in the electoral list of the MAE. According to the MAE vice president Ion Neagu, the future Parliament should not include corrupt people, regardless of their political affiliation, “because corruption impoverishes the country and makes us lag behind. While the European countries make progress on the path to democracy, Moldova continues to be in the same morass,” he said regretfully. “This form of protest cannot solve much for the time being, until we come to power. When we enter the Parliament, we will show that corruption can be rooted out Corruption is the cause of all problems in Moldova,” said Dina Ivanova, the spokeswoman for the MAE.
