MAE: Constitutional Court's decision confirms reestablishment of law in Moldova

The European Action Movement (MAE) welcomes the Constitutional Court's decision, which confirms that Speaker Mihai Ghimpu holds the post of caretaker president of Moldova legally, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the organization. “By its decision, the Constitutional Court not only confirmed that Mihai Ghimpu is the caretaker head of state, but also validated Moldovan democratic forces' efforts to reestablish a state of law. Things go in the right direction,” the MAE president Anatol Petrencu said. The Court's irrevocable decision confirms the reestablishment of democracy in a state that witnessed abusive and shameful practices by the Communist administrations during eight years,” Petrencu said. “The democratic parties now have an enormous responsibility to remedy the economic situation and help the country brought to the verge of collapse by the Communists overcome the difficulties. It will be extremely difficult to fight the corrupt people, who ignored the law in order to protect their property,” Petrencu said. In this connection, the European Action Movement reminded about the set of anticorruption principles promoted with the aim of freeing Moldova from corruption, which is an obligatory condition for modernizing the state and improving living standards. The MAE reiterated that it will be a disinterested partner of all those who will work for the Moldovans to live better and will fight endemic corruption in Moldova.
