The Coordination Board of the Actiunea Europeana Movement (MAE) and the National Liberal Party (PNL) on January 18 examined the preliminary list of candidates on behalf of the two political organizations for the shadow Government. The Board’s press release quoted by Info-Prim Neo does not give the names of the candidates. According to the communiqué, the PNL and MAE decided to formulate a joint statement on the present state of the talks with other parties and representatives of the civil society over the preparation of a joint national list for the 2009 parliamentary elections. The Coordination Board discussed the Civic Initiative for a Clean Government’s initiative to sign a cooperation agreement. The MAE-PNL Board welcomes the initiative, but says that it is preoccupied with the insurance of a fair treatment of all the future contenders for the MP seat. The MAE and PNL hope that there will be no unwanted political interference in the Initiative’s activity, while those involved in the project will manage to responsibly and objectively process the press materials and any other materials concerning the quality of the politicians and persons proposed by the parties as well as of the independent candidates for MP seats. The Board also discussed the preparation of the electoral program, the defining of the staff structure, the draft agreement between the PNL and MAE regarding the joint participation in elections and fusion after the legislative elections, etc.
