“Made in Moldova” opened at Moldexpo

National products made in different sectors of the economy can be found at the 19th exhibition “Made in Moldova” that brought together over 460 producers and will work until February 2. The eco-products are the novelty of the edition, IPN reports.

Tamara Luchian, director of the clothing factory “Ionel”, said it is a tradition for them to take part in this exhibition. This time they exhibited 35 models of suits. “Every time, we make effort for our consumers to see us in a different way. Our prices are attractive and the models are interesting. We keep pace with the European products,” she stated.

Olesea Globa, entrepreneur from Orhei, produces whole wheat bread from ecological wheat grinded at stone mill and with homemade leaven. She related that she started to make eco bread three years ago, initially for her family only and later for relatives and friends too. She ultimately expanded her business and started to make profit.

Tatiana Bezerdic has taken part in the exhibit for the fifth time. She is confined to a wheelchair and earns her living by selling handmade items. “I’m skilled at handling crochet hooks and knitting needles, thread, scissors. I like creating beautiful things. Today I brought martsishors, knitted hats, bootees,” showed the woman.

In the inaugural ceremony, the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Sergiu Harea said the event is designed to support and promote the national producers. “We hope today’s event will be a stimulus for the national companies to promote mainly eco-products that are the principal element of this year’s event,” stated the official.

According to Peter Michalko, Head of the EU Delegation in Chisinau, “Made in Moldova” became a respected trademark. Starting with this year, Moldovan farmers will be able to export larger quantities of grapes, plums and cherries to the EU duty-free and this will enable them to increase exports and to thus gain financial benefits and experience, enhance competitiveness and realize the development potential of national enterprises. During five years of implementation of the Association Agreement that includes the DCFTA, the Moldovan products conquered a respectable place on the European market.

The five-day exhibit hosted by “Moldexpo” includes a collective stand of entrepreneurs from Romania and from the Republic of Bashkortostan of the Russian Federation. Also, there are 19 collective stands, of ATU Gagauzia and of 18 district councils. The business program of the event consists of forums, seminars and presentations of institutions.
