A new subject will be included in the school program in autumn – Introduction to Intellectual Property. The course will be studied optionally by lyceum students. An order to this effect was signed by Minister of Education Corina Fusu.

Contacted by IPN, Octavian Apostol, director of the State Agency on Intellectual Property (AGEPI), said the new school subject is introduced in the education process in a move to enrich knowledge of intellectual property among students. A recent study shows that almost 50% of the students consider piracy and counterfeiting are normal practices.

“We consider we should develop an intellectual property culture so that all these rights are respected and this should start form school, lyceum. We will try to promote the observance of the rights of the others,” stated Octavian Apostol.

He also said that a campaign entitled “Stop piracy and counterfeiting” will be staged at the next stage. This will be followed by the training of teachers. The teaching aids are already available. The course is intended for lyceum students who study humanities and exact sciences.
