„I've voted for changes”, declared Democratic Party (PDM) president Marian Lupu, adding that he meant “changes that would allow Moldova to modernize, ensure the supremacy of the law and the functionality of the democratic institutions”, Info-Prim Neo reports. Lupu said he also voted for “an unmonopolized economy, equal treatment for all businesses and the freedom of enterprise, for further opening of the Moldovan economy and safer conditions for the foreign capital”. “I've voted for professionalism and competence, especially since the country needs a plan to overcome the economic crisis in a fast and competent manner. I've voted for the restoration of the dignity of all the citizens of our country, for a harmonious collaboration between all the ethnicities, which form together the people of Moldova, for European reforms, for good neighborly relations”, stated Lupu. The PDM leader is confident that the party will enter Parliament this time. When asked which party the PDM will choose to form a potential coalition with, Lupu reiterated that a bilateral coalition with the Communists is out of the question. The PDM pleads for a broad coalition, an alliance that would ensure national conciliation and promotion of policies that could bring about changes in Moldova. Lupu added that the political dialogue with Romania must be returned to a pattern of normality and must be based on certain principles: mutual respect between a EU member country and a country with a strong European aspiration. To be successful, efforts must be made by both Chisinau and Bucharest, he stated. Marian Lupu said that even though the campaign preceding the elections was tense, he felt easier with himself, “like one feels when peace of mind is reached”. In the regular legislative elections on April 5, Marian Lupu ran on the Communists Party's ticket.
