The chairman of the Democratic Party (PDM) said a candidate for Prime Minister will be fielded for confirmation to the head of state by December 10. According to Marian Lupu, the candidate will be identified as a result of the rounds of consultations and negotiations and is to be supported by at least 51 MPs.
The statements were made after the consultations on the issue held with President Nicolae Timofti on November 27, IPN reports.
“The candidate is to be supported by at least 51 lawmakers so that the vote in Parliament is successful,” stated Marian Lupu, noting that this position is supported by the head of state.
Asked if the PDM is for an apolitical candidate for premiership, Lupu said the party does not propose principled solutions or solutions that are not flexible. The PDM does not yet have a candidate and the statements about the possible candidates made so far are nothing but speculations.
Also today, the head of state will have consultations with the Liberal Party and the Liberal Democratic Party. The Party of Communists and the Party of Socialists said they will not take part in the consultations.
