Speaker Marian Lupu announced that he will soon hold consultations with the parliamentary factions to examine Vitalie Pirlog, who was proposed for prosecutor general. He said he will also have a meeting with Vitalie Pirlog to see his position, IPN reports.
“We will face one of the two possible situations: he will be fielded no matter whether he is supported or not, or he will withdraw when seeing that he will not be voted,” said Marian Lupu.
Vitalie Pirlog was put forward as a result of a contest held by a commission that included representatives of civil society and legal system professionals. Earlier, the Liberal-Democratic and Liberal MPs said they will not vote for Pirlog as prosecutor general because he was minister of justice during the Communists’ rule.
