Moldovan luge slider Bogdan Macovei has earned his first point in the general individual standings this season, at the first round of the Luge Word Cup that took place in Calgary, Canada, despite having failed to qualify for the final ride, Info-Prim Neo. Macovei performed better in the Nations Cup, where he placed 34th, winning 7 points. The next round of the World Cup will take place later this week in Austria. Bogdan Macovei will represent Moldova at the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada. The 25-year-old Romania-born slider has represented Moldova since 2005.
