The Republic of Moldova teams up well with Romania in the fields of education and research. The two countries help each other and exchange good practices, Ludmila Armașu-Canțîr, pro-rector for scientific activity and international relations at the “Ion Creangă” State Teacher Training University, said in a public debate staged by IPN.

“The partnership with Romania means not only borrowing of good practices, but also transmission of good practices. For example, in the doctoral segment, the basis of the psychopedagogical module is formed slightly differently. As they do not have teacher-training universities, 70% of the doctoral students of the “Ion Creangă” State Teacher Training University are from Romania, being involved in psychology, special psychopedagogy, social assistance, logopedy and educational sciences programs,” stated Ludmila Armașu-Canțîr, noting that a lot of fellows from Romania became doctors of sciences after studying here since the doctoral studies were founded in Moldova in 1993.

She said that Moldova and Romania help each other when necessary. “When we speak about research, even now we are working on projects together with universities of Romania so as to submit these. Joint lectures are given, joint projects are designed and joint seminars are held. There is practically no important scientific, academic event that does not involve Romanian counterparts. They are present in the same we as we are as the openness is not only a whim, but also a pressing necessity.”

Ludmila Armașu – Canțîr also said that in the partnerships in education with Romania, they try to make the borders more invisible as friendly relations are established without any fear of losing institutional or national particularities.

“Evidently, in the big international family, the researchers should come with something specific, while the specific features of the educational science of the Republic of Moldova are visible. I think the relations will now be even more important as our teaching and research methods and technologies already reach the international standards. The international publications are also very important and important databases are also accessed through partnerships, joint publications, coordination of common projects with fellows from Romania. In fact, the mates from Romania are the most reliable partners in all the projects and we thank them for this,” stated Ludmila Armașu - Canțîr.

The public debate entitled “Integration through training and research, Moldovan-Romanian educational projects” was staged in the framework of the project “Double integration through cooperation and information”, which is implemented by IPN News Agency with support from the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova of the Government of Romania.
